Mabel - Antagonist
Color
The colors that are represented in this picture reflect my villain in many different ways. The red blood represent my character Mabel's fire red eyes. The color makes her look evil and the redness also hints at there deep power within. The color red in her eyes is important, because in the shadows it is the only part of her you can see. The white rose in the picture represent Mabel's white night gown and pale skin. Her white nightgown reflects her ghostly figure and the fact that she is no longer a living being.. The blackness in the picture represent Mabel's black hair and her bruised skin which shows her pain and her mystery.
Light
I have decided to cast my character in the shadows to not only give her a mysterious vibe, but also to hint that we are dealing with a villain and not a hero. Mabel is never seen in daylight, so she always hides behind or in shadows. Putting Mabel in the shadows makes her seem like a threat because you can't really fully see her what her weapons or power is. Putting her in the shadows also gives her an element of surprise towards her attackers. The shadows are dark and depressing like Mabel's life, so I think it is the perfect kind of light to cast her in.
Shape
Mabel is a dead little girl, so her shape is depicted as a small ghost. The shape is very curvy at the bottom, like her white nightgown is. The idea to have her shaped like a ghost gives you the idea that something is wrong and that she has a very unique story. The shape also hints that she may be the antagonist, because not many hero's are depicted as a paranormal figure. When ever you see the shape of a ghost you think dead, so this also demonstrates Mabel's afterlife. The ghost is shaped like a small person as well, and this can represent Mabel's a small child.
Isabella - Protagonist
Color
For the protagonist the colors that are used are purple, green and yellow. The purple represents nobility. Isabella's father was the town pastor so her family had power. The color green represents Isabella's love for life and nature. She is set on protecting and her love for life and nature helps her. The color yellow represents Isabella's bright and happy personality. It also represent how important the light of god is in Isabella's life. Isabella lives by a code to never have to kill anyone or anybody, so the colors are bright and lively not dark and morbid. The colors together are all used in Isabella's outfit.
Light
Isabella is the protagonist so placing her in front of the sun makes her look like a good character. The light in the back of her highlights her figure and the light also reflects her bright personality and outlook on life and god. Also, placing her in the light makes her look unafraid and confident. If you were to place her in the shadows it would not make her look like your protagonist, so by putting her in the warm sunlight she appears to be good. The sun is outlining her body so it is easy to tell that she is a young women. The yellow and warm background invited you in and is comforting like Isabella.
Shape
Isabella is shape is represented by a cross. Since her father was a pastor and she has taken on the role of protecting innocent people using the word of god against Mabel, the cross is very important in her life. Isabella is strong and sturdy like the cross. She always stands tall and confident in the face of danger. Isabella's shape is represented by the cross through her body frame. She holds her shoulders up and has her arms out to comfort those around her. Isabella always carries her cross with her, because it is such an important part of her life.
