The theme of Becoming Jane is love and loss. Jane clearly loves Tom and Tom clearly loves Jane. They realize that their love cannot grow for they have no money and no status. They will never be able to start a family that will live happily and thrive. If they would give in to their emotions it would ruin their families acceptance of them. It is better to live apart then on the streets with many hungry and unhappy children. They will always love each other, but they must move on.
Line is visible in the scene since they are both situated in a window. The line on the left of Jane is mirrored by her body and this creates a parallel in which the scene becomes more balanced. The same with Toms character. When they both stand up and we are faced with a wide shot of the two of them, the lines of the window are again parallel with the two bodies and this creates balance. Jane’s face shape is very oval. Tom’s face shape is very oval and these two shapes help us recognize that they will be together. Both characters have triangular shapes on their necks due to their costumes. The space behind Jane seems more limited than Toms. Toms space is very deep and continues to become ambiguous further back. The rhythm and pacing of the scene is well choreographed. The scene is a back and forth between Jane and Tom but does not feel to forced like a ping pong match. Once the couple starts to quarrel and Tom realizes Jane is leaves the Rhythm picks up in speed. The scene continues to jump back and forth between Jane and Tom, but not it is a little bit more forced to stress intensity and drama. Overall the scene is well edited and directed. You are able to perfectly understand what is happening. The background on each character is dull and uneventful so your eyes focuses on the main character. Plus the light coming in the window helps direct your eye to the couple.

Each of these pictures from the movie “Up” has a different emotion and look. The first picture is a picture that is from Carl’s past. It is of him and Ellie when they were children. The hue has many browns that are represented in the dark wood paneling behind Ellie. The greens and yellows of the children’s clothing add to the dark musty coloring represented in the picture. The brightness is low and dim. The darkness of the coloring also adds to the reason why the brightness is so low. There are hardly no bright colors in the picture. The saturation is medium. Its not totally unsaturated but the colors are not saturated enough that the vibrate off the frame. Many shadows are used to give the room depth. Ellie has shadows on her face from her crazy hair above her. The mood of the scene is adventure and curiosity. The next picture of Ellie and Carl is very bright, airy and vibrant. The hue has has a lot of greens and whites. The picture is very bright and light because the sun is shining down above them. The light is also high because the scene takes place outdoors. The saturation is very high. The colors pop out and are vibrant. Many pinks, greens, whites and blues are saturated to give a happy mood. The picture has little shadows. There is a small shadow on the mailbox because of the placement of the sun. There is also a shadow on the house behind Ellie and Carl because of the placement of the sun. Shadows have been created on Carl’s face from his large glasses. These placements of shadows give depth and make the scene more realistic looking. This scene is opposite look of the one before it because of the amount of light and the amount of saturation. Even though it involves the same characters years later, the difference in the lighting and mood is very large. Also the first picture was set on the inside of a building and this second one is set in the front yard of there new house. The mood given in the scene is a mood of stress free, happy, light, care free and natural.

Yes the director followed the 180 degree rule when filming this scene in Pride and Prejudice. The camera never passes the 180 degree wall during this short scene. The 180° rule is a basic guideline in film making that states that two characters (or other elements) in the same scene should always have the same left/right relationship to each other. If the camera passes over the imaginary axis connecting the two subjects, it is called crossing the line. The director also follows the Rule of Thirds guidlines. Both subjects are never placed in the center of the square. They are always put in the axis’s where the squares meet and never are centered. So it is following the rules. This scene is also following the 30 degree rule. The 30° rule is a basic film editing guideline that states the camera should move at least 30° between shots of the same subject occurring in succession. This change of perspective makes the shots different enough to avoid a jump cut. Too much movement around the subject may violate the 180 degree rule. Following this rule may soften the effect of changing shot distance, such as changing from a medium shot to a close-up.
Joe Wright the director of Pride and Prejudice seemed to follow all of these rules throughout the whole movie.

Gotye - Somebody That I Use To Know (Original)
Listening Phase 1
Tempo- Medium

Groove- the groove is funky and quirky.
Listening Phase 2
Instrumentation-
guitar, drums, and electronics drive the song.
Structure/Organization-
There is a verse, chorus, verse, chorus and reprise.
Emotional Architecture -
The song builds using an increase in volume and more instrumentation. Plus adding a female voice to the second verse helps. The song drops with the end of the second verse and the beginning of the second chorus. The high female note allows for the song to drop before the second chorus arrives.
Listening Phase 3
Balance
Height-
The frequency is low and switches to high in the second verse and chorus.
Width-
The stereo does not pan left or right during the song.
Depth- There is little depth until the chorus happens. The chorus has the most depth in the song.

Essay
These two songs carry different emotions for me as a listener. Each one has its own emotion. The original song has a kind of smart ass, screw you vide. The song makes you want to move on from the pain that your significant other caused you, and not linger over them. It's a good song to play after a fight that you just won. The second song gives a vibe of sadness and loss. The song makes you feel the sting of a bad relationship and a messy break up. Its a tad faster and darker then the original version. The lyrics and Melody stay the same, but the intensity and timbre are different. The timbre is higher in the second version of song then in the original version. The first song has much more instrumentation then the cover. It is using a guitar, bass, drums, and different quirky electronic sounds. The cover song only uses a piano. The artist creates depth by layering different piano parts on top of one another. The first song has depth, but because of the raw emotion of the second song, I feel as though the depth is more noticeable than the original. Height is also created in the original song by adding the female vocals in the second verse. This also adds to emotional architecture of the whole song. The first song is much more playful then the cover. It is a better song to dance to. The beat gets you tapping your foot and makes you want to hum along softly. The pop/alternative sound of Gotye’s song is a more mainstream sound. The cover song has more heartache and anger. The passion that Gavin puts into the song is clearly seen. This version of the song has a more alternative sound because of the piano and emotional vocals that Gavin gives.

Pride and Prejudice - The Confrontation

I have decided to use this scene because I feel as thought it is so powerful and important to the storyline. The scene between the two main characters is not only urgent but crucial . If you have ever read the story Pride and Prejudice you will understand the shear importance in this scene and dialogue. If I were to crituque the scene I would just say that it might be a little bit too heavy on dialogue. If you are not familar with old english or Jane Austens way of writing you might be confused by some of the vocabulary used in the scene. But I believe that if most of the vocabulary was simplified for the average human, that it would seem like a Jane Austen novel. Also the scene is rather long and if you are not understanding the vocabulary being said, then you get lost and bored. The actors are able to demonstrate what is happening with their mannerisms and emotions which can make it easier for a person to understand what is happening in the dialogue. The listening mode for this scene is very semantic because it is focusing on the relationship and the words that are being expressed in the scene. The space of this scene is subjective/emotional.

Make Art & Learn
Art is an original girft one gets and anyone can do it. It doesn't follow instructions. It's about creating the uncreated. Art is risky and taking the risks gets us rewarded. Art is something that changes everything. Art is about creating the uncreated.
Learning is all around, and your schooling is never complete. You hardly never find a job that requires you not to keep learning and obsorbing new information. We are always challenged to think differently. We are pushed to learn what we need to know every single day.
Being able to make art and learn new things are demonstrated through my blog in many ways. Before my Media 203 class, I never even had a blog. I had thought about creating one many times, but I never had the driving force to finally create one for myself. I had no idea how to even set one up! So by learning in class how to properly setup and run a blog I was able to learn a new skill. Blogging always seems to challenge me to be creative. Who wants to look at a boring, dry blog? I hope that by my colorful and fun blog setup people are intrigued to stay and read some of my thoughts. Not only do I want my blog to look artistic, but I want my word to sound artistic as well! It's a hard balance to maintain when trying to writing interesting and innovating things. Usually blog is either informational top heavy or just fluffy nonsense. I am hoping that I can spread the new information that I have learned and also show my creative thoughts through a successful blog.
I definitely feel that these exercises for our blogs are helping me be a better artist and student. Creating weekly blogs keeps you constantly creating and exploring new material. They help me keep on track with what is going on in our labs every week. I am able to reflect on current work that I'm doing or going to do with each blog. Such as blog #1 when we talked about our characters, I was able to connect and understand my characters more with this process. With blog #2 I was able to express my creativity with sharing my favorite poem by Robert Frost. I was able to express why I loved this poem and why it meant so much to me. I also interpreted the poem and by doing this I was able to think creatively and outside of the box. With this current assignment I am able to clearly understand what making art and learning truly means. With the last assignment I will be able to further my knowledge on script writing and how to script a scene with sound. By using my mind in all of these ways it has only help me become a smarter and more efficient student. Overall these blog has done nothing but help my knowledge in art and learning.

Finding Your Howl
http://changethis.com/manifesto/show/51.01.YourHowl
Story 1 Summary
Mumon is a red Wolfe who lost his howl due to living in captivity. He went on a journey to find his howl. He saw a deer and decided to chase it. The deer told Mumon that when he needs his howl it will be there. Mumon ate the deer. He ran with the extra energy until he came upon a farmer. The farmer shot him. He dropped down hearing tribal chants. He howled. There is a howl inside of all of us. It will be there when we most need it.
Robert Frost
Fire and Ice
Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would sufficed
This poem is one of my favorites and speaks to me in many different ways on many different levels. The main question is asking will the world end in fire or ice and which would be more preferable for a person. Would you rather be burned to death or freeze to death? The rhyme scheme drawls me into this poem because as a creative person I like things to flow and sound natural. I love poems that rhyme because they draw me in more than a poem that does not rhyme. I love the personal questions that this poem makes you contemplate. Which way would you like to die? I feel that in many poems you never face this difficult and horrid question. But the way Frost interprets it makes it not so violent and more trivial. It makes you think. I love it because its not a question about love, friendship, or fortune but about life and death. It deals with serious issues that we may have to face but the poem is not forecful or threatening. Personally I would rather perish in fire. It is quicker and I rather have a quick surge of pain rather then a long drawn out death. If you have ever experienced the emotion of desire you can account for how fiery and heated the emotion is, so it would be a more comforting way to die because you know how it feels. Ice might be a longer death but it would perhaps be less painful after a long period of time because your body simply goes numb. Also if you have known enough of hate in your life you are use to the coldness of that emotion so dying by ice would be a more desirable choice for you. It's intriguing that Frost is making you think that you will have the choice about which death you can take. His words draw you in into a trick that make you consider one death above the other. But in all reality either death would suffice plus we would not have any choice over the decision anyways. I think from a creative aspect Frost is trying to say that if the world ends in fire that it will basically end in a hateful war. If the world ends in ice, then we shall all die in loneliness. Hatred, love and lust are capable of great destruct and as a human race we need to not abuse these emotions or it will be the end of us all. Frost is explaining that our greed, anger, lust, pride, wrath, envy, and gluttony will be the end of us if we do not be careful. Our sins will be our demise in the end. This poem could have thousands of interpretations but that is why I love it so much. Having a creative way of thinking I like to be able to think creatively and this poems lets my mind wonder and explore all the different options and meanings that Frost is giving.

Mabel - Antagonist
Color
The colors that are represented in this picture reflect my villain in many different ways. The red blood represent my character Mabel's fire red eyes. The color makes her look evil and the redness also hints at there deep power within. The color red in her eyes is important, because in the shadows it is the only part of her you can see. The white rose in the picture represent Mabel's white night gown and pale skin. Her white nightgown reflects her ghostly figure and the fact that she is no longer a living being.. The blackness in the picture represent Mabel's black hair and her bruised skin which shows her pain and her mystery.
Light
I have decided to cast my character in the shadows to not only give her a mysterious vibe, but also to hint that we are dealing with a villain and not a hero. Mabel is never seen in daylight, so she always hides behind or in shadows. Putting Mabel in the shadows makes her seem like a threat because you can't really fully see her what her weapons or power is. Putting her in the shadows also gives her an element of surprise towards her attackers. The shadows are dark and depressing like Mabel's life, so I think it is the perfect kind of light to cast her in.
Shape
Mabel is a dead little girl, so her shape is depicted as a small ghost. The shape is very curvy at the bottom, like her white nightgown is. The idea to have her shaped like a ghost gives you the idea that something is wrong and that she has a very unique story. The shape also hints that she may be the antagonist, because not many hero's are depicted as a paranormal figure. When ever you see the shape of a ghost you think dead, so this also demonstrates Mabel's afterlife. The ghost is shaped like a small person as well, and this can represent Mabel's a small child.
Isabella - Protagonist
Color
For the protagonist the colors that are used are purple, green and yellow. The purple represents nobility. Isabella's father was the town pastor so her family had power. The color green represents Isabella's love for life and nature. She is set on protecting and her love for life and nature helps her. The color yellow represents Isabella's bright and happy personality. It also represent how important the light of god is in Isabella's life. Isabella lives by a code to never have to kill anyone or anybody, so the colors are bright and lively not dark and morbid. The colors together are all used in Isabella's outfit.
Light
Isabella is the protagonist so placing her in front of the sun makes her look like a good character. The light in the back of her highlights her figure and the light also reflects her bright personality and outlook on life and god. Also, placing her in the light makes her look unafraid and confident. If you were to place her in the shadows it would not make her look like your protagonist, so by putting her in the warm sunlight she appears to be good. The sun is outlining her body so it is easy to tell that she is a young women. The yellow and warm background invited you in and is comforting like Isabella.
Shape
Isabella is shape is represented by a cross. Since her father was a pastor and she has taken on the role of protecting innocent people using the word of god against Mabel, the cross is very important in her life. Isabella is strong and sturdy like the cross. She always stands tall and confident in the face of danger. Isabella's shape is represented by the cross through her body frame. She holds her shoulders up and has her arms out to comfort those around her. Isabella always carries her cross with her, because it is such an important part of her life.
